ART

The owner of a lowrider wants his car to state, "this is who I am." Thats why owners spend a lot of money and time on their cars paint job.

Some people paint scenes called murals on the trunks, hoods, or sides of their lowriders. The murals most often depict Mexican folklore. Painting murals on lowriding cars is part of a long tradition that began in Central and South America. For decades, artists in these regions have decorated buses and trucks with paintings. The Mexican culture is the favorite subject amoung these artists.

One Chicano poet called lowriders "butterflies with transmissions." However one describes them, they are an exciting part of the Southwestern scene, adding a touch of brilliance to our public streets. LONG MAY THEY ROLL!!!!
